The VIOLET Homey app (available from the Homey App Store), alongside the VIOLET Homey Pro Core plugin (available through VIOLET and installed on the VIOLET system), adds support to integrate VIOLET with your Homey Pro. It enables Flows and Advanced Flows to be triggered via simple scene buttons or standby gestures, such as the hold gesture.
VIOLET App for Homey
Visit this link to install the VIOLET app on your Homey Pro (Note that the Homey Bridge is not supported).
You will see a warning message saying “This app can manage your entire Homey”. Extra permissions are required for our app so that it is able to access all of the Flows configured in your Homey. However, this is read-only, the app will not modify them.
Configure Flows (in the Homey Mobile or Web app) and Advanced Flows (Homey Web app only) with one of our “When…” trigger cards from Apps > VIOLET -
Standby Screen Held - Triggered by a short hold of a finger on the VIOLET screen when in standby
Scene Button Pressed - Triggered from a Scenes Screen button press on VIOLET
Standby Screen Held ‘When…’ Card
Entering a value in the optional ‘Variant’ field allows you to differentiate between multiple triggers. For example, you might want to have different Flows triggered by the Standby Screen Held gesture on each installed VIOLET. Alternatively, having the same Variant (or none) set in multiple trigger cards allows multiple Flows to be triggered by the same Standby Screen Held gesture.
Scene Button Pressed ‘When…’ Card
Scene buttons on VIOLET have 2 lines of text and you have complete control over what is displayed depending on what is entered into the optional Button Label fields:
If Label 1 is entered then it is shown on line 1 instead of the Flow name
If Label 2 is entered then it is shown on line 2
If Label 1 is omitted then the Flow name is shown on line 1. The label can be split over the two lines by including a colon, e.g. “Bright: Kitchen” (but will not apply if Label 2 has been entered)
The trigger card fields also serve another purpose - to differentiate between different cards. If the fields of two trigger cards were the same, then both of the associated Flows would be triggered when either of the corresponding Scene buttons were pressed. In some cases it may be desirable to trigger multiple flows with a single button press, but where it isn’t, these fields can be used to make the trigger unique.
If entering button labels, then it will suffice to make the label(s) of each trigger different. If the Flow name is being used instead then enter a value into the Variant field to make the trigger unique.
Furthermore, if there’s a requirement to have the same button labels for multiple Flows (perhaps for use on VIOLET in different rooms) then enter a Variant to identify them. The Variant will be displayed when selecting Scene buttons on VIOLET, but will not be displayed on the button itself.
Homey Pro Core Plugin for VIOLET
The Homey Pro Core plugin enables VIOLET to be integrated with your Homey Pro. This plugin is available for purchase here. After purchasing, follow the instructions to assign your licence in your new licence email.
When successfully installed, in the settings menu on VIOLET:
Select Integrations > Add Integration > Homey Pro Core
Within a second or two, the Homey Pro(s) on your network should be listed. Select the name of the Homey Pro that you wish to connect to
After successfully connecting, press Go There to continue configuration in the Screens > Scenes Screen menu
Flows configured with a Scene Button Pressed trigger will be listed as available buttons. Select the buttons that you’d like included on the Scenes Screen by pressing on them, followed by pressing on the tick in the top-right corner to save your selection
Your newly added Flow buttons will then be listed alongside any other Scene buttons configured. Use the up and down arrows to reorder your buttons as required
If you have configured a Flow with a Standby Screen Held trigger card then go to the Gestures settings menu. Select Hold followed by the name of your connected Homey. Select the Flow to be triggered from the list displayed
